Pumice Powder<\/h2>\n

Pumice powder is used for taking scratches and marks out of glass.<\/p>\n

This is a specialist powder which is mixed with water to form a paste for scratch removal on glass. It is much coarser than cerium oxide and used as a first stage to take out marks and lines in glass or crystal. It is then commonly followed buy cerium oxide for a polished finish.<\/p>\n

Used by watch makers for glass watch fronts and other decorative glass or crystal items.<\/p>\n

Can be used for small or large areas with mops, calico, felt or chamois mops.<\/p>\n

Care should be taken to keep the process wet to avoid heat build up which could damage the glass.<\/p>\n

For Jewellers<\/h2>\n

Pumice can be used for a number of jobs in the jewellery studio. Generally used for creating a clean greaseless surface ready for soldering. Best used after pickling wet with a brush. It needs to be cleaned off well with water to ensure no powder is left behind which could inhibit solder flowing. Similarly it is used in enameling to create a clean surface.<\/p>\n

Pumice can be used to create a really nice matt finish. Best mixed with water and rubbed on the metal with a brush, it leaves a nice subtle matt finish.<\/p>\n

Traditionally pumice can be mixed with vegetable oil and used with a felt wheel of varying shapes to begin the polishing process on silverware.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
