Velcro Backed Abrasive Strips

Velcro Backed Abrasive Strips are used for hand sanding/ polishing with a velcro hand file.

The idea is that as strips wear, they are easily changed with no need for sticking or cutting as with emery sticks.

Particularly good for metal although also useful on wood, clay, plastics etc.

These strips are designed for use with our velcro hand file.

Choose a grit from the following options:

Aluminium Oxide
60, 120, 180, 240, 320 and 400

Foam Backed
60, 120, 220, 400 and 600

Popular with fabricators, mould tool polishers, sculptors, engineers, hobbyists etc.

For Engineers

These hand files are excellent for edge-work, smoothing and removing burrs. The size is suitable for larger scale work in particular fabrication, foundry/scultpture and engine components.

Coarser grades are excellent for harder metals and for doing more work where there is large burrs.

For Jewellers

These files are handy for larger scale work such as bangles and silversmithing. The coarser grades suit initial finishing and shaping. We would advise 400 grit upwards for precious metals. The foam backed abrasive is softer to use and contours a little for curved forms. The file itself is not flexible like Micro mesh flexifiles.
